December 16 morning: The moon near Zubenelgenubi
On the early morning of December 16, the waning crescent moon will appear near Zubenelgenubi, the second-brightest star in the constellation Libra, the Scales.
December 17 morning: The moon near Mercury
On the early morning of December 17, the waning crescent moon will appear near Mercury. Look for them about 45 minutes before sunrise. That morning, Mercury will be in the waxing gibbous phase and 83% illuminated. You can see the phases of Mercury through a telescope.
